He was in an improv class at the Improv strangely enough, in Melrose and my Brother-in-law, Nick’s brother Matt Offerman was in the same class and they put on a show, sort of like a dance recital except for comedy and Nick and i drove down to the Improve on Melrose just to see there cute little show and I saw this guy and I was like this guy is fucking genius. He was so funny and he had so much stage presence and you know charisma and he was cute and young and all those things. So after that we all went out and i introduced myself to him and I said would it be weird if I called Lorne Michaels about you and he said “no, that would be fine” and I don’t think he thought that I was really gonna do it and I did’t do it in fact for about two weeks and then I finally did call Lorne who I did’t know that well, I had hosted Saturday Night Live but I certainly wasn’t like Bosom Buddies with Lorne, I mean I know him better now, so I called him and he said “Okay, I’ll bring him in and he better be good.” So they did fly him in and he did get the job and umm it was just a wonderful thing just wonderful.. He did’t even have an agent at that time, he had no connections. If it wasn’t me, it would have been somebody else. (X)

I don’t know if you already came across this 2011 interview, but Kevin Pollak asks Megan about how she talked to Lorne Michaels about Bill. It’s nice to have her own recollection of what happened.
